For Education

Structured diagnostic assessments designed for self-directed use that integrate naturally into courses, coaching programs, and leadership development curricula – without requiring a facilitator for every administration.

Why Diagnostic Assessments Belong in the Classroom

Leadership development courses face a persistent challenge: the concepts students study are about behavior, but most coursework evaluates knowledge, not actual behavioral patterns. A student can write an excellent essay on psychological safety without having any idea how psychological safety actually operates – or fails to operate – in the teams and organizations they lead.

Diagnostic assessments close this gap. When students complete a behavioral assessment before a course unit begins, the results create a personal stake in the content. The concepts in the syllabus are no longer abstract – they map directly onto gaps the student has just discovered in their own data. This is the mechanism through which self-awareness develops: not from reading about it, but from encountering evidence that your self-model and your behavioral patterns do not fully align.

Evans Learning Labs tools are designed for exactly this purpose. Each tool produces domain-by-domain scored results, a comparison between predicted and actual scores, and specific development recommendations. Students leave the assessment with a development question, not just a score – and that question drives engagement with the curriculum in ways that generic self-reflection exercises do not.

How the Tools Support Pedagogical Goals

Pre/post measurement of actual change
Because every tool offers free lifetime retakes, students can complete the same assessment at the start and end of a term and compare domain-level scores side-by-side. This gives students – and instructors – objective evidence of whether behavioral change occurred, not just whether students can articulate the concepts.
Self-awareness as a learning outcome
The prediction feature – where students predict their own scores before completing the assessment – creates a structured encounter with the gap between self-image and behavioral evidence. This encounter is the foundation of self-awareness development, and it happens as a direct result of the instrument design, not as an add-on activity.
Individual data for cohort analysis
The instructor dashboard provides aggregate domain scores across a cohort, showing where the group as a whole has gaps. This gives instructors real data to shape discussion, emphasis, and coaching focus – rather than guessing at where students are developmentally.
Consistent methodology across multiple units
Because the full toolkit covers individual, team, and organizational dimensions using the same behavioral description format and scoring logic, students who complete multiple tools across a term develop a coherent picture of their performance across levels – individual effectiveness, team dynamics, and organizational conditions simultaneously.

Licensing for Educational Use

Academic licensing is available for courses, programs, and institutions that want to make Evans Learning Labs tools available to students at volume pricing. A single academic license covers a specific tool for a defined cohort or course section, with students receiving full access to take the tool and view their results – including the instructor's aggregate dashboard view of the cohort.

Licensing inquiries are handled directly and pricing is based on cohort size and tools selected. There is no platform fee, no per-retake charge, and no requirement for facilitated debrief sessions – the tools are designed to be self-directed so they can be integrated into any course format.
